Finally, the sun begins to rise and paints with its light the first shadows of the day, such as those that the aqueduct casts towards the hillock.
The lagoon of Acequión is located approximately eight miles west from the city of Albacete (Spain). In the dry bed of the lagoon is clearly distinguishable the circular hillock surrounded by trees. It is an archaeological site belonging to the "Culture of Motillas" of the Bronze of La Mancha, from the period of the Ancient / Middle Spanish Bronce Age.
In this little hillock or "motilla" there were two concentric rings of stone walls about 5m. height, around a cleared circular central space of 20m. diameter. Between these walls and taking advantage of its surface, were constructed some houses with vegetable-based elements and mud.
Its date , covers roughly from 2200 to 1800 BC .
Its population formed the indigenous cultural substrate which subsequently, and with the added influence of the Phoenician and Greek colonization, would originate the Iberian culture of this area.
Today, the lack of consolidation of the archaeological remains and their exposure to the weather elements, are degrading rapidly and irreversibly the site.
